Welcome Halloween!

Finally! It's September and that means that Halloween is around the corner.

It's my favorite season of the year, and I'm getting ready to celebrate with new art. Let's begin with two mini-painting series that I made.

First, a series of watercolor mini-paintings inspired by vintage yellow ochre tones. It's one of my favorite colors and I decided to combine it with a new obsession of mine: Tarot and oracle cards. Plain symbols and hidden meanings combine to deliver powerful messages when we get a reading, and we are told what we needed to hear.

Inspired by my oracles and tarot sets, I decided to create a series of illustrations with symbols that have a personal meaning for me. Suns, moons, stars and women interact on each card, and give you a feel that something is going on inside them. Little bits and pieces of a story that unfolds on an alternate reality, and these little paintings give us a window to these moments in their lives.

What are they doing? What moves them to do whatever they are doing? Where they come from and where are they going? Well... these are questions that I ask myself, and I love to leave it to your own interpretation when you look at them.

Then, I really got into the Halloween spirit, and I took my favorite brushes and watercolor paints to make the first series of paintings this year. They have a theatrical fell to them, with curtains and stages, just like if they were in a midnight carnival.

And to finish everything, a larger piece. A 9x12 Halloween carousel painting on very heavy watercolor paper. I love the whole atmosphere of the collection, and I really like the last painting. They are all together having fun in the carousel, the little ghost riding a pumpkin, the vampire quietly enjoying the ride in a coffin and the group of witches and their familiar are riding a big green pumpkin car.
