These handmade ceramic bells were created as companions for new beginnings.
Each one is shaped by hand and finished with a soft, flowing silhouette that naturally brings to mind cloaked figures, quiet guardians, or small nuns wrapped in color and light. When I was working on them, they began to feel like a group rather than individual pieces, and that’s when the story emerged.
In many Mesoamerican traditions, the Pleiades were deeply significant. Their reappearance in the night sky marked the renewal of time, the moment when the world was allowed to continue. In ancient Mexico, the New Fire ceremony was tied to this celestial event, a ritual of hope, continuity, and rebirth. These bells are my own humble interpretation of that idea, translated into clay.
Each bell carries a gentle voice. They are meant to be rung on New Year’s Eve, to welcome the turning of the cycle, and then rung again throughout the year whenever you want to call joy back into the room. Their sound is soft and intimate, not loud, more like a whisper than a declaration.
The colors flow naturally across each piece, like robes dyed by time and weather. No two bells are the same. Each face, each glaze pattern, each tone is unique. Together, they feel like sisters, watching, waiting, reminding us that beginnings happen again and again.
You can hang them individually, display them as a group, or gift one as a symbol of hope, protection, and continuity. They are both decorative and ceremonial, meant to be touched, rung, and lived with.
