I have always believed our creative spaces and living rituals deserve a touch of magic—and sometimes, a quiet moment to rethink the ancient stories we’ve inherited.
When I was making "We can always say no" in my studio, I wanted to turn the old tale of Eden on its head. For generations, the burden of blame was cast onto one side. To me, true love and partnership are grounded in absolute equality. Couples are two whole, independent souls choosing to walk side by side. They make decisions together, share equal responsibility for every step, and nurture a safe space where either one of them—or both—can freely say No without guilt, fear, or friction.
This one-of-a-kind art vessel is completely hand-built and carved by me in rich clay, then fired in my old-school electric kiln. On one side, a gentle, long-haired Eve stretches toward a bold, juicy apple halved in vivid red. Turn the vessel around, and Adam stands carved in equal relief, both sharing the presence of the winding serpent that flows along the upper rim between two rustic hand-sculpted loop handles.
Finished in layered jade and luminous seafoam crackle glazes, the surface reveals delicate crazing and warm earthy undertones, giving it the weathered soul of a treasured artifact unearthed from a kinder myth.
Generously sized with plenty of presence, this vessel is designed to hold fresh garden flowers, cool water, dried botanicals, artist brushes, or simply stand proudly on an altar, mantle, or shelf as an everyday monument to shared freedom and mutual respect.
